About TheNewsReport

Honest news from good sources.

What this is

TheNewsReport pulls headlines every hour from real news organizations — wire services and major outlets like AP, Reuters, BBC, NPR, The Guardian, CNN, Fox News, and others — and ranks them by how many independent outlets are reporting the same story. Every headline links directly to the original publisher. We don't republish article text or images, and we don't write our own original reporting: we summarize and link to the people who did.

What the checkmarks actually mean

You'll see two kinds of labels on stories here:

✓ Corroborated by 3 sources — multiple independent outlets are reporting this story. That count is real, pulled straight from which outlets we actually found covering it.

Single-source report — only one outlet has this so far. We say so instead of hiding it or dressing it up to look more confirmed than it is. Not every story is corroborated, and pretending otherwise would be worse than just being upfront about it.

What gets fact-checked

Every video and audio script — Shorts, the Daily Recap, the Weekly Recap, the podcast — is generated and then run back through a separate fact-check pass against the original source text before it's narrated. If a claim can't be verified against what the source actually said, it gets dropped from the script, not softened or guessed at. This fact-check pass runs on the stories that become video or audio — it does not re-verify every one of the roughly 100 headlines listed on the homepage, which are ranked directly from the source feeds themselves.

How this gets made

TheNewsReport's videos and audio are produced by an automated pipeline (script generation, narration, and editing) built and run by one person, not a newsroom. That's disclosed on every video and podcast episode. Automating the production doesn't change the sourcing or verification standards above — it just means a fact-check pass runs on every single script, every time, without getting tired or skipping one.

Corrections

Automated systems still get things wrong — a source misreported something, a fact-check pass missed a real error, or a headline needs updating. If you spot one, email [email protected] with a link to the story or video and what's wrong.

Homepage headlines are corrected directly and reflect the fix within the hour, since the page regenerates on that schedule anyway. A published video or podcast episode can't be silently edited after it airs — instead we pin a correction comment on the video (or update its description), and if the error is significant enough to change the substance of the story, we won't cover it again as if it were new. We'd rather be visibly corrected than quietly wrong.
